Understanding the Prosperous Intenet economy…

People are utterly confused as to how the Internet works, in terms of earning revenue. The Internet Economy

Have you ever had an offer sent to you that says “get a free iPad”, or “click join underneath me so I can earn money” or “join this program and get paid by clicking stuff”?  Maybe you have even at one point in time sent off these emails to your unsuspecting friends, family and coworkers in attempt to coerce them into making you money….

Whatever the case, this IS NOT the Internet economy.  These are schemes and are very fractional components of the Internet and ones I personally do not like to be associated with or recommend.

Somehow over the years, people have grown to think that this is the path to earn money on the Internet, however, these are schemes that are driven in a similar way to those that Bernie Madoff constructed to fool people out of billions of dollars.

The Internet Economy is far from this…

It is the up and coming economy of the world, where the trading, the transactions, and usership, and the ability to set up your own business enterprise have become part of the scope.

So what is the Internet economy?

Every economy is comprised of a few components.  People.  Products and Services.  Money. Trade.

The Internet economy is no different.  It has all of these components and you can be within any of these, or a service that provides or contributes to any of these components and become quite successful.

Perhaps you are thinking that the Internet transactions are no where near that of the offline world.  Well, use that is true.  But it is still big and it is still growing.

The Internet economy is now worth trillions however.

Just think of a product or service that you may be involved with, perhaps it may even be your current method of employment.   It more than likely has an online division or an online component that is critical to its current success, if not, it will be instrumental to the sector growth of that niche.

Internet Has Reach EVERY Business
Even farming has become part of the Internet Economy

Every business that is offline can leverage the Internet.  Many do, a lot however STILL haven’t taken advantage of this.  Within this niche there is the potential for an Internet JOB.*

*I have decided that from now on I am not going to call anything on the Internet a job.  Although it could be classified as a job as you may or may not be doing work for another business or company, it is actually a business.  You determine your own success, and how much success you can achieve.  Because of this I am going to refer to it as “Internet Solution Opportunity” or ISO for short.

Most business can in fact bring a whole division of their business online.  Many haven’t and have died because of it.   Look at some of the biggest bookstores that have gone out of business, most recently Borders in the United States.

They were fools.  They had the upper hand…they had the framework, the partnerships, and the computer systems that just needed to be turned into a web store and a web application and there may be no Amazon.com today, the world’s largest book seller and the the offline bookstore killer.

Borders Going Out Of Business

But this also pisses some people off.  They think that Amazon is a job killer, when in fact they are a huge job creator. The technology behind their store has created an incredible amount of jobs.  Their current workforce is over 43,200 employees!

This is just the half of it though…

Their domestic and International shipping has created jobs.  And their store framework that any seller can plug into has been a hit and has made many local mom and pop shops far more successful.

And what about the Internet Solution Opportunities?

Hidden under the most obvious service that Amazon provides (a huge Internet store), is one of the greatest suppliers of online based opportunities.

First, they have the largest affiliate program in the world.   Amazon has over 2,500,000 affiliates actively promoting their program. As an affiliate of Amazon , you can promote any of the millions of products within their network without owning any of them, having to deal with the support or shipping…basically you just need a place to put their links and you can earn money.

You can join the Amazon Associates (Affiliate) Program Here

This has created UNLIMITED ISO’s. Almost EVERY single product that is for sale can be sold within Amazon and affiliates of Amazon generate over 40% of all Amazon sales.

Secondly they have a true job network, called Mechanical Turk.  For a small price you can outsource the tasks you don’t want to do, or for that same amount of money, you can earn money doing little tasks like “clicking”, “submitting forms”, “submitting links”, “writing”, or “proofreading”.

You can earn seed money for your starting your online business using Mechanical Turk or you can “scale” your existing business by outsourcing your arduous tasks for quite cheap.

Lets look at another offline business the Internet Economy has killed!

Remember going to the movie store to pick up a movie when you are bored on a Friday night?  What about now?  You are likely paying a small subscription fee and getting instant access to 10,000’s of movies from the comfort of your home.

Thus the departure of Blockbuster and the arrival of Netflix.com.  Netflix now boasts massive earnings, and Blockbuster is well, out of business.  I am not going to elaborate on this in the same way as Amazon, but Netflix has also created a boat load of online based opportunities.  A number of these are online through the Netflix.com affiliate program, through their popularity of movies online, through online movie review sites and informational sites…etc.  I digress.

This is a sign that humanity is exercising the benefits of the Internet.  It is more instant, it is more affordable, it is more connected, it is more interesting, and anything can be accessed from pretty much anywhere.  I personally think it is incredible.

The fact that once “monopolized” industries are moving to Internet based economies where affiliates all have the opportunity to earn their share of the revenue is a critical component of the “business world” going forward.  There are millions of independent “affiliate marketers” in this world, many of them earning a full time income online.

There is an affiliate program for just about every single niche you can imagine, even some that you may not be able to even comprehend.  IT is here, it is the way of the future, and the Internet is a job manufacuture that will continue to destroy large scale offline business and create millions of new opportunities and millions of new “Internet Solution Opportunites” for people like you and I.

Steve Jobs + 15 minutes work + 5 days = 19215 clicks

Not to show a sense of urgency, but today was supposed to be the first day of the Internet Jobs month.Steve Jobs Traffic

I thought that this post would be an appropriate an timely one, although it wasn’t planned. I have been mulling over the idea of “writing” and in particular, targeting world events, product launches, trending topics and information, and financial news.

What I mean by this, is that YOU can benefit greatly from these events. In fact, it is so easy that if you give me a few minutes of your attention here, I will be able to explain the entire process from start to finish.

The process that allowed me to…

(1) Get 40,000 content views with less than 1 hour (yes ONE) of work
(2) Take three simple news items in combination with a tiny bit of research and do this
(3) Use free tools to perform this research (takes literally 2 minutes)
(4) How in the last 5 Days I got over 19,215 clicks in 15 minutes work
(5) Take advantage of a free site and get Google rankings in less than 1 hour

You got it…this entire process is free, can be done within any niche, and can attract a load of traffic to your website or blog.

OK, so now the back story of getting massive traffic…

On October 6th, 2011 as I woke up to an email (from Carson) while in Italy on vacation. I heard of the news that the innovator Steve Jobs had passed away. This was very sad news as I have been a close follower of Apple and Steve Jobs over the past years, ever since I got my first Macbook (followed by my first iPhone).

I turned on the TV. Every channel had some sort of news related to either Apple or Steve Jobs. This was also a very popular and talked about event within all aspects of the Internet.

  • Every post on Facebook was about Steve Jobs or his Standford Youtube video.
  • Almost all news sites including financials, had their cover story slotted for this news.
  • I thought Twitter was going to crash with all the Steve Jobs tweets.

I knew that I could easily take advantage of this interest to obtain a sleigh full of traffic. I knew that people would be searching for information regarding this event from their computers, laptops, ipads and mobile phones.

In fact, I obtained over 19,215 clicks in just the last 5 days (probably higher by the time you read this post).

19,215 clicks in 5 days
And here is where my article is within Google’s search results:

#5 Ranking, First Page of Google

Here is a link to the article: http://www.streetarticles.com/news-and-society/how-did-steve-jobs-die

As you can see from the following chart, there was a massive influx of traffic on the first day (9,422 clicks), followed by a consistent (but still high) amount of traffic in the proceeding days.

Article Traffic Chart - How Did Steve Jobs Die?

And search traffic was only a component of it.  Since I had written the article with the audiences in mind (by writing an engaging article), I also got a ton of social sharing activity.

Getting Facebook Likes, Google +1 and Tweets

This was all done in a four step process which I am about to explain.

Four Steps to Unlimited Traffic

I am going to break down this process for you…and try to make these steps as understandable as possible, but if you get caught up or confused anywhere along the way, leave a comment with your question at the bottom of this page and I will give you a hand.

Step 1: Come up with a phrase that someone would search for.

This step is probably the most discretionary and there really isn’t a lot of precision. This is a brain task and a creative task, but it does not have to be too difficult.  I personally find it very easy to come up with terms on news related items by using a free tool that is native to Google, Google Instant.

For the Steve Jobs example, I typically type in the topic I am targeting.  In this case, it was Steve Jobs so I typed this into Google…

Google Instant - Search Term: Steve JobsGoogle typically gives you results that people are typing most often.  I knew there would be a fair bit of competition with these “broad” search terms, so I investigated further.  I figured people may be wondering what caused Steve Job’s death…as many people didn’t even realize that he was sick in the first place.

I started typing in “how did…”.  Here is what came up:

Google Instant Search - How Did...

Google naturally puts the most current and trendiest search terms first within their Google Instant results…and low and behold, look at the very top term after just typing in the beginning of the phrase.  I then choose this as my term, but need to do a tiny bit more research.

Step 2: Check the competition.

Now it is time to look in Google to see what the competition looks like.  I have one simple rule that I use to help me determine if the keyword is a keeper.  I search for the term in Google in “quotes”.  In this case, “how did steve jobs die”.

Google Search - How did Steve Jobs Die

Then scroll down to the bottom and click to the last page.  If there are less than 40 pages of results (which means les than 400 pages of competition in Google), then I will go ahead and write an article on the term.  In this case, there were only 20 pages of results…
Only 20 pages of search results
This is all I need to know…anything under 40 pages means it has limited competition and I can likely get ranked rather quickly.

Step 3: Write an article.

The next step is to write an article targeting the search term that you have come up with.

There are a couple rules for writing your article:

(1) Your keyword should be the starting phrase or the only phrase within the headline. In my example, I used “How did Steve Jobs Die” as my article title. A couple of other examples are my other articles:

You can reference the article titles I used for these as an example.

(2) Put your target keyword within the first block of text within your article.    If you look within my article, you will see that I included the term “how did steve jobs die” within the first paragraph.   That is all you need in terms of the keyword within the article.

(3) Write naturally and write engaging content.  The rest of your article should focus on the reader, not the keyword.  The more natural you write, the more people will share it and the better it will rank.  Google looks at many things other than the “actual” keyword when determine their search rankings.  As a side effect, when you write naturally you will get ranked under many other search terms.  Just take a look at part of my keyword report that I get from StreetArticles.com.

Keyword Rankings - Getting Ranked Under Lots of Different Keywords

This is just part of the report.  There were over 100 total keywords that this single article was ranked under by writing naturally.

Step 4: Submit the article to StreetArticles.com.

I am not sure if you are aware of this or not, but in November of 2010 Carson and I rolled out a content authoring site called Street Articles. This is a site that allows anyone to submit unique and engaging content to, get rankings, get a following and leverage our websites power to get your content ranked QUICKLY. In fact, you can get rankings in under 1 hour in most cases on the top page of Google.

If you don’t have an account, you need one. You can get an Street Articles account here…

http://www.streetarticles.com/home/login

Upon logging into Street Articles, you will want to visit the publish article page and submit your article.  It really is a very quick process and is not that complicated.  You should read the publishing guidelines for clarity before submitting an article.

BONUS IDEA: You can do this for ANY keyword using the Google Instant Technique and obtain rankings, traffic, and increase website sales using this exact same process. You will quickly see the vast potential using this technique as there are millions of keywords out there (if not billions).

The Internet Job Application of This Prodedure (The $$ Part)

I guess the question many of you may be asking is, “how do I turn this into a business?”…in other words, how do you make money from writing and submitting articles like this. There are actually many business and revenue generating applications to articles. Here are just a few of them.

  • Get an article ranked, drive traffic to your website (where you can then benefit financially from it)
  • Get an article ranked, and sell positioning within the article
  • Sell this as part of a service for a local company, tell them that you can get them ranked under certain search terms using this technique
  • Cover news stories, get loads of traffic, drive people to a page where you have Google Adsense (or other ad networks like chitika or infolinks), and get paid for ad revenue
  • Promote relevant affiliate programs, collect leads, or relevant offers. In this case, I could have driven people to a page that sold Apple products, sold products related to Apple, perhaps even products on how to become successful.
  • Build your brand. Within StreetArticles there is a “author” field and within your author profile you can add links to your website and your social accounts. You can also drive people to your website or blog where you build a following through Twitter, Facebook, Google +1, and LinkedIn integration. Here is an example of some of our social profiles (feel free to follow us or add as a friend)
  • Your authoring credibility. When you start writing articles, you will start gaining credibility within the niche that you are writing. This authorship can lead to additional exposure and a more responsive audience.

These are just a few of the benefits of writing and submitting articles. This is something that anyone can do, it is free, and implementation can be done in as easy as four steps.

This post was not intended to be today, but I just had to share this with you because I wanted to emphasize the power of writing, the power of leveraging news, and show you the exact process that I have used on a number of occasions to obtain 10,000’s of clicks with very little work.

Traffic equates to power in the online business world, and this will give you the power to do whatever you like!
